Where is Jaguar Made?

Jaguar is one of the most well-known sports car brands in the world. Aptly named after the sleek and swift jungle cat, Jaguar vehicles are just that. But before the cars, the brand originated as a motorcycle sidecar producer.

In 1922, the Swallow Sidecar Company was founded in the United Kingdom. Wanting to extend their line to cars, the company began experimenting and in 1935 released a two-seater car named the SS Jaguar 100. Ten years later, the shareholder board voted to change the name from SS to Jaguar.

Jaguar cars began to race in international motor sports, further propelling the brand to popularity and fame. In 2013, they merged with Land Rover to form Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), which is owned by Indian automobile manufacturer Tata Motors, one of the largest producers in the world.

Jaguar Land Rover produces a combined total of over 400,000 cars annually and is headquartered in Coventry, England. Where are these cars being made? Read forward to learn more.

Verdict: Where Are Jaguar Cars Made?

Jaguar cars are manufactured in several countries, primarily in England. There are no manufacturing facilities located in the United States.

The company has no plans to initiate American-based production, despite the uncertainty with President Trump’s imported vehicle tariff plans. In response to the 25% tariff declaration, Jaguar Land Rover temporarily ceased exports to the US in April 2025.

According to their parent company, Tata Motors, Jaguar is currently part of a five-year plan aiming to reduce its production capacity by 25% due to a recent decline in demand. The factories that manufacture Jaguar cars also produce Land Rover models.

Tata Motors previously had plans to construct a $1 billion electric vehicle factory in Southern India, where they would also manufacture Jaguar Land Rover cars. However, JLR reportedly has not been able to secure its desired price-quality comparison for electric vehicle parts from the local economy. For now, this move is tabled.

How To Tell Where Your Jaguar Car Is Made

Want to determine where your Jaguar was manufactured? A Jaguar purchased in the United States likely came from the factory in Birmingham, England. But, just to be sure, you can check your Vehicle Identification Number, or VIN.

To locate the VIN on your Jaguar, you can look through the driver’s side windshield for a small metal plate on the dash. You may also find the VIN on the driver’s door jamb, in the engine bay, or in your vehicle documentation.

Use a free service like faxvin.com to input your VIN and pull relevant information like where your Jaguar was made, what factory it came from, and more.
