Complete List of Grill Brands Made in the USA

PK Grills

Headquarters: Little Rock, AR

States manufacturing in: AR

The Original PK Grill is still (mostly) made in the USA. The capsule is poured at a domestic foundry, and the final grill is assembled in Little Rock, Arkansas. This grill is made for no-fluff grilling at an affordable price. It has won several awards and recognitions over the years and has been used by the winners of a few steak grilling competitions. It’s built to be super durable using a hand-poured cast aluminum grill – a process that is not too much different from when they started making these grills in the 1950s.

Just watch out for their other products – the PK360, PKGO, and New Original PK are not made here.

Hasty Bake

Headquarters: Tulsa, OK

States manufacturing in: OK

Hasty-Bake has been making charcoal grills in the U.S. since 1948. Their Legacy 131 grill is Hasty-Bake’s most popular model, mostly due to its durability and versatility – you can do just about anything with this grill. It has a 523 square-inch cooking surface, which is big enough for smoking a bunch of meat simultaneously. Heat control is key in charcoal grills, and this Hasty-Bake grill has a lifting mechanism that allows you to bring your coals up to 2 inches away from your food and as far away as 14 inches for things that need to cook at a lower temperature. This grill also comes with a “heat deflector,” which you can attach and start to cook with indirect heat in no time.

Headquarters: Ponca City, OK

States manufacturing in: OK

Cookshack is a great manufacturer, and their “Fast Eddy’s” PG500 is an American made wood pellet grill that offers flexibility and heat control. This model is actually both a grill and a smoker in one, so you can do everything from burgers to BBQ. It has four different cooking zones that allow you to customize your grilling process for whatever food you want to cook- direct, indirect, cold smoking, and warming. Once you fire it up, the temperature of the grill is electronically controlled, which can help eliminate any large fluctuations in temperature as you cook. It’s a fully automated controller, but you also have the power to customize it to your specifications. The PG500 is made with stainless steel for lasting durability and is constructed for easy access to your food and your wood pellets and ash disposal.

Alfresco Grills

Headquarters: Industry, CA

States manufacturing in: CA

Alfresco has been making gas grills out of its Southern California headquarters since 1999. Most of their standard grills are made from 304 stainless steel and boast several different features. The temperature control knobs have a built-in cooling system, so the heat from the grill doesn’t burn your fingers when you’re adjusting the temp (they also have an LED light above them for nighttime grilling). Their grills are quite expensive but are made to be long-lasting and durable.

Solaire Gas Grills

Headquarters: Whittier, CA

States manufacturing in: CA

Solaire was founded in 1907 in Whittier, CA, and keeps its operation there to this day. They are known for their infrared grills, which are made for reducing flare-ups while you’re cooking. That’s because of the V-shaped design of the grilling grids on the surface – they capture the grease, so you can increase flavor and reduce those annoying flare-ups. Solaire Gas Grills are also easy to assemble and constructed with stainless steel. The two infrared burners keep the grilling surface pretty even, and you can crank it up with a simple electronic ignition button.

How To Find Grills Made In The USA

Who doesn’t love breaking out the grill for a 4th of July cookout and showing off their cooking skills? Grilling has become part of American culture, so why shouldn’t you have a high-quality grill to make the experience even better?

The USA produces high-quality materials, and generally, products made completely on US soil are better quality and longer lasting than those made in China. That being said, it can be a bit difficult to find grills made in the USA. So, let’s dive into our helpful tips on finding American made grills and what went into our research.

What Does “Made in the USA” Mean?

According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), for a product to be considered “made in the USA,” the product must be “all or virtually all” sourced and assembled in the United States. However, there are some gray areas that can be hard to determine what it means for something to be “all or virtually” made in the USA, so some additional research is required to find a product that is genuinely made in the USA.

To learn more about this, read our article on how to spot made in the USA.

Grills must be built out of dense, durable materials that can handle high heat for long durations. This means no aluminum, glass, and definitely no plastic! Grills are commonly made of stainless steel, ceramic, cast iron, and porcelain. To fully understand how to find grills made in the USA, you will need to understand where these products are produced and how easy it is to source a certain material in the USA.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is one of the most popular components used in grills; it can be used to make the main shell of the grill, as well as the burners and the grates.

The United States ranks fifth in the world on the total percentage of stainless steel production. While China produces the most at 60% of the total global production. This means that more caution should be taken to ensure that the stainless steel parts of the grill are both produced and assembled in the USA.

Steel made in the USA is up to three times stronger than Chinese steel, so if you are looking for a quality grill, it is imperative to find stainless steel made in the USA.

Ceramic is made from clay, so it is relatively easy to find grills made from this product. Ceramic grills are a really great option because they can quickly heat up to high temperatures and retain heat for long periods.

China is the biggest producer of ceramic, boasting around 47% of the total production. The USA still produces a decent amount of ceramic, however, so it is not very difficult to find ceramic grills made in the USA.

Cast Iron

Cast iron is a great material generally used to produce grill grates because it has a very good ability to retain heat.

Australia produces the most iron ore in the world at a whopping average of 900 million metric tons per year. The USA does not mine much iron ore comparatively. The USA only produced around 48 million metric tons of iron ore in 2019. The USA may not be a major producer of cast iron, but it is still very possible to find cast iron products made and sourced on U.S. soil.

Porcelain is generally used as an enamel coating for different components of grills to make them non-stick. We don’t generally love porcelain enamel coating because it chips easily and decreases the ability for heat retention.

China is the number one porcelain producer, but the U.S. has been steadily increasing its porcelain production in recent years. However, it is important to keep an eye out because porcelain sourced from China tends to be much cheaper.

It is not a necessary addition to your grill, but if you are looking for a porcelain coating on your grill, it is definitely possible to find it sourced in the USA.

Besides looking at the source materials of the grill you are looking at, it helps to also look at the labeling of the product. By law, companies are required to label the source origin of their products with a “made in” label on the product itself or its packaging.

The “made in the USA” label is protected by the FTC and can only be used if a company determines that its product is “all or virtually all” made in the United States. However, although the label is protected, the FTC doesn’t do the best job of policing the label. So, it is up to the individual consumer to do additional research to ensure that a product is absolutely sourced and assembled in the USA.

You should also look out for tricky wording in the product’s labeling. For example, words like “designed” and “manufactured” may be used instead of “made,” but they do not signify that a product is genuinely American-made. And phrases like “made in America” may be used to trick customers into thinking a product is made in the USA but, in reality, is made in Mexico or Canada.

Regarding labeling in online materials, companies are not required to state where their products are made. So, if a company does not specifically say online where their products are made, err on the side of caution and assume they are not made in the United States. If a product is truly American-made, this is a huge selling point, so it’s not likely that this point would be hidden away.

Other Tips

Here are some of our other top tips for finding grills made in the USA.

Call The Company

This may seem like an obvious tip, but it can definitely come in handy. After research, if you are still unsure where a product is made and its source materials come from, simply call the company. The customer service team will be able to help answer your questions.

The American Flag Does Not Mean American-Made

Just because a company has affixed an American flag sticker on its labeling does not mean the product is made in the USA. The flag is not protected like the “made in the USA” label, so it does not mean much to find an American-made product.

Grills Not Made in the USA

Here are popular grills we found that aren’t made in the USA. We’ll keep adding to this list as we find more.
