About

Old Hickory Furniture is a renowned company with a rich history rooted in the 1800s. Recognizing the strength and versatility of hickory saplings, pioneers utilized them for various purposes, including wagon wheel spokes, tool handles, and furniture. The saplings’ ability to bend and conform to the body shape resulted in exceptionally comfortable and sturdy furniture. In the 1890s, Billy Richardson began selling hickory chairs and rockers, drawing inspiration from his earlier work on President Andrew Jackson’s home. Inspired by Richardson’s success, a group of artisans established Old Hickory in 1892, producing hickory sapling furniture as a full-time venture. The company gained popularity and expanded its product line, supplying homes, resorts, and even national park lodges. Today, Old Hickory Furniture continues to combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary designs, ensuring each handcrafted piece is unique, stylish, comfortable, and enduring, embodying the essence of America’s authentic and original furniture.
