Factors To Consider

Durability and Weather Resistance

When purchasing furniture for use outdoors, the number one concern will always be durability. Good patio furniture should have:

  • A reliable core material, like hardwood or wrought iron
  • Good joint support
  • Weather and water resistant finishes
  • Protective coatings from rust or decay

Furniture should be comfortable, which is why you should look for ergonomically designed pieces built for maximum comfort. While some of the pieces would be more comfortable with additional padding, a lot of folks like to choose their own cushions and seating accessories, so we didn’t consider the lack of cushions to be a huge deal breaker. Seaside Casual and Homecrest are two of our favorites for comfort since they have some extra padding. Just make sure to store those cushions after you use them so that bad weather doesn’t ruin them quickly like the Suncast Wicker Storage Seat featured above.

Outdoor patio furniture isn’t just for sitting on; it’s a decoration for your space as well. That’s why it needs to look good as well as function properly. When choosing chairs, tables, benches, and any other furniture items, look closely at the style of the piece as well. Since every person’s sense of style is different, look for something you like or is unfinished, allowing you to stain or style the piece however you’d like.

  • Wrought iron
  • Wood
  • Resin and plastic
  • Several fabric and color options

You want to make sure you’re getting great patio furniture for your money. Don’t consider any brands where the price tag simply isn’t worth the quality level.
