How to Find Bathroom Vanities Made in the USA
If you’re out shopping or want to do some of your own research to find bathroom vanities made in the USA, check out our tips below on labeling, material sourcing, and “made in the USA” language.
What Does “Made in the USA” Mean?
Let’s first define what it means for a bathroom vanity to be “made in the USA”. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) defines it as “all or virtually all” made in the United States. So, every part of the production of the vanity must take place domestically. This means that even the materials used in the construction must be from the USA, as well as the actual assembly of the product.

Materials
When looking for bathroom vanities made in the USA, you must look at the materials used to make the product. Knowing where these raw materials come from is the first step to finding USA-made bathroom vanities. A bathroom vanity generally comprises four distinct parts: the cabinetry, countertop, sink, and hardware.
Cabinetry
For a high-quality vanity, look for 100% natural wood cabinets. Avoid any vanities made with particleboard or plywood. The great thing about wood is that many vanity companies use locally sourced wood for their cabinetry. While this is not always the case, there is significant wood production in the USA, so finding USA-made wood for your cabinetry shouldn’t be difficult. Even if you opt for a more budget-friendly vanity, such as one made of particleboard, plywood, or MDF, many domestic companies also produce these materials.
Countertop
Vanity countertops can be made of various materials, including granite, marble, tile, or quartz. Much of the world’s granite, marble, and tile comes from countries like China, Italy, and India. However, the USA also produces these materials, albeit in much smaller amounts. That said, finding USA-made granite, marble, and tile countertops is not impossible.
On the other hand, the USA is a leading producer of quartz and one of the top exporters of this material.
Sink
Not all vanities come with sinks, but sink materials can range from ceramic and glass to natural stone and stainless steel.
China is by far the largest ceramics producer, making up for nearly half of the world’s ceramics. The country also produces a quarter of the world’s glass. That said, some companies within the USA produce ceramics or glass domestically, so while the search may be more difficult, it is completely possible to find USA-made ceramics or glass.
It’s easier to find USA-made natural stone and stainless steel. While both are heavily produced in China, the USA has a sizeable steel production capacity (plus, did you know USA-made steel is three times stronger?), and natural stone can be easily sourced locally.
Hardware
The fourth and final part of a bathroom vanity is its hardware, which can be made of various metals or even plastic. Two popular metals to use for vanity hardware are brass and stainless steel. While there is sizeable foreign production of these materials, the USA does produce both brass and stainless steel at significant levels, making it relatively easy to find USA-made metal hardware. Plastic is another common hardware material for more budget-friendly vanities, which can also come from the USA, though it’s generally more likely to come from China.
Labeling
According to Title 19 Chapter 4 Section 1304 Of the United States Code, all imported products must clearly indicate their country of origin. This, in addition to the fact that the FTC polices the usage of the “made in the USA” label, technically makes our search for USA-made vanities much easier. However, there are a few things to keep an eye out for.
The FTC has no pre-approval policy for the “made in the USA” label, so it’s worth double-checking the product. If it is not truly made domestically, report it to the FTC.
Labels like “made in America”, “manufactured in the USA”, and “designed in the USA” may suggest they are made domestically, but they only signify that a portion of the manufacturing takes place in the United States. In other words, they are not “all or virtually all” made in the USA.
Another thing to watch out for is the use of the American flag sticker. Just because you see the flag on a product does not automatically mean it is USA-made, so always dig deeper.
Other Tips
Here are some of our top tips to keep in mind when looking for bathroom vanities made in the USA.
Check the Company’s Website
While the law states companies must state the product’s country of origin on the product, this is not the case for any online or promotional materials. So, if you’re online shopping, you may not see the country of origin anywhere. But don’t worry; you can still find vanities made in the USA if you know where to look.
“Made in the USA” is a big selling point, so if you are looking at a vanity made here, you should find this information on the company’s website. Some places to check include the Home page, the About Us page, and the product page.
Call the Company
If you are unsure where a particular vanity is made, simply call the company or use the company chatbox. A representative will be able to answer your questions.
