Coolina Knives is a relatively young brand offering heavy-duty chef knives. Their product line includes cleavers, butcher and slicing knives, and more. The knives are built with carbon steel blades and wooden handles.
The brand was founded in 2017 by two friends on a search for high-quality handmade knives. Since its founding, Coolina has sold over 800,000 products. The top sellers on their website have thousands of five-star reviews.
Their knives are rustic, almost medieval in style, and come with a lifetime warranty. The brand’s tagline is “Big BadA$$ Knives,” and they certainly deliver on the aesthetic. Whether on a kitchen counter or in the belt of a Viking, these blades would look right in place.
Coolina is headquartered in Cooper City, Florida, but do they make their knives here in America? Let’s cut to the chase and find out.
Verdict: Are Coolina Knives Made in the USA?
No, Coolina does not manufacture knives in the United States. The knives are made in China. The brand does offer cutting boards made in the US, though.
Despite quoting Benjamin Franklin on its website, this brand is not American-made. Completing a website search for the term “made in USA” yields several products, namely mineral oil and a butcher knife. However, further investigation on each product page reveals no relevant information for the country of origin.
Instead, every single knife includes the following bullet point details:
- Cuts Anything Like Hot Butter
- Unforgettable Badass Gift
- Hand-Forged by Master Blacksmiths
- Build To Last
Here at All American, we know it’s the details that matter. Why does every knife have the exact same highlight points? Shouldn’t the knives be “built” to last, or is this a DIY situation where the customer has to do the building? And most importantly, who are these master blacksmiths?
Coolina states that their knives are “hand forged by Master Blacksmiths” and “made by skilled artisans using time-tested forging techniques…” but doesn’t elaborate beyond that.
Throughout the company’s website, there are a few photos and videos of knives being handmade. Yet, there are no detailed descriptions of the warehouse, the process, or the blacksmiths themselves besides stating that they are “masters.”
This lack of information detracts from the possibility of a richer brand experience. Instead of crafting their story in a way that could allow customers to truly understand the Coolina ethos, the brand posts generic videos and makes blanket statements.
We reached out to Coolina to ask them directly about where their knives are made. Here is their reply:

Coolina knives are made in China. As for their cutting boards…indeed they are American made. However, we couldn’t locate this product directly on their website. Instead, we found it listed through the Coolina Amazon store.

All in all, the Coolina brand feels as performative as their knives. It looks rustic and handmade from afar, but when you look a little closer, there are a few key pieces missing, and you see past the shine on the steel.
