For most dog owners, their good boys and girls are beloved members of the family who deserve the very best – including when it comes to grooming. That’s why we did extensive research to find dog grooming products made in the USA and find out which ones shine above the rest.
Unfortunately, finding a dog grooming product 100% made in the USA of all USA-sourced ingredients proved nearly impossible because some essential oils commonly used in dog shampoos and conditioners can only be found overseas.
Still, we did find some manufacturers that make dog grooming products here and source their ingredients from the USA as much as possible.
Below, you’ll find a list of all the brands we found that are close to 100% made here and some popular brands that are not. Enjoy!

Warren London has a gift box that contains its 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner, Pink Pawdicure Nail Polish Pen, Hydrating Butter Leave-in Conditioner (8oz), Exfoliating Butter Wash (8oz), Paw Defense Wax (2oz), Wet Kiss Dog Cologne (2oz), Ear Cleaner (4oz), and a Nail File.

Brittanie’s Thyme is mostly known for the skincare products for humans, but they work super well for dogs! That’s because all of their ingredients are completely natural and meant to clean, condition, and sooth sensitive skin.
How to Find Dog Grooming Products Made in the USA
When looking after your furry friend, you want to ensure you give it the best of the best. Of course, this can come in the form of dog food and beds, but don’t forget the importance of using good quality dog grooming products as well. For many, this means buying dog shampoos made in the USA.
But how does one even begin to find American made dog grooming products? Here’s our guide.
What Does “Made in the USA” Mean?
Before we dive into the nitty-gritty of how to find dog grooming products made in the USA, let’s define what “made in the USA” means. According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), this means “all or virtually all” of the product is made in the United States. This includes everything from the materials or ingredients used to the packaging – everything must take place domestically.
For more information on the FTC’s guidelines, check out our complete article on how to find “made in the USA.”
Ingredients
The first thing to look at when looking for dog grooming products made in the USA is the ingredients used in creating the products. Unfortunately, finding fully American-made dog grooming products is impossible as some of the common ingredients found in dog shampoos are only produced overseas. So, when looking for dog grooming products made in the USA, it’s best to look for products made with as many US-made ingredients as possible.
Some common ingredients found in dog shampoos and conditions include aloe vera, coconut oil, oatmeal, shea butter, and olive oil, among a myriad of other ingredients.
To really dig deep into whether or not a certain dog grooming product is made in the USA, you should research each individual ingredient to see if it is produced domestically.
- Aloe Vera: Thailand is the biggest producer of aloe vera worldwide, with the country producing around a third of total global production. However, the USA also produces a significant amount, though definitely not to the extent Thailand does.
- Coconut Oil: The Philippines produces the most coconut oil globally, and coconut oil is largely imported to the United States. But the USA also produces coconut oil as well.
- Oatmeal: Russia and Canada produce a large portion of the world’s oats. The USA also produces some, ranking ninth in the world in terms of oat production.
- Shea Butter: Unfortunately, shea butter is not produced in the USA.
- Olive Oil: Spain and Italy are the largest producers of olive oil, but a fair amount of it is produced domestically in the USA, with around 40,000 acres of olives planted in the United States.
Labeling
To find dog grooming products made in the USA, you should look at the product’s label or packaging. Title 19 Chapter 4 Section 1304 of the US Code states that all products made abroad must be labeled as such. When looking for American-made products, you should look specifically for the FTC-protected label “made in the USA.”
As previously mentioned, if the product is “all or virtually all” made in the United States, it can be considered “made in the USA.” However, since dog grooming products are nearly impossible to make fully in the United States, it’s important to look at how much of the product is made in the USA. If only a negligible amount of the product is made abroad, the product can still be considered “made in the USA.”
Keep in mind that there is no pre-approval process to use the “made in the USA” label. It’s up to the companies themselves to determine whether their dog grooming products meet the criteria to be able to use this protected label.
You should also watch for labels that may use similar words that confuse consumers into thinking these products are also “made in the USA” when they are not. Examples of such labels include:
- Made in America: This label most likely means the product is made abroad, as America can refer to either Canada or Mexico as well.
- Assembled/Designed in the USA: This label does not mean the entire product is made in the United States.
- Made in the USA with imported materials: This means exactly what it says, and since it uses foreign materials, the product cannot truly be considered all-American.
One last thing to watch out for is the use of the American flag sticker on labels. Just because you see the flag does not automatically mean the product is made in the USA, so look at everything with a critical eye.
Other Tips
In addition to looking for locally sourced natural ingredients and reading labels, there are a few other ways to help you find dog grooming products made in the USA.
Go Online
Go to the company’s website, and check out the company’s “About Us” page or the product page. If the product is genuinely made in the USA, this fact should be loudly advertised on the company’s website, as it is a huge selling point.
If the product is made overseas, you’re more likely not to see anything regarding the product’s country of origin. This is because companies are not required to state the country of origin on their online or promotional materials.
Social media is another great place to check if a product is made in the USA. Check the company’s social media handles for information regarding the manufacturing process of the shampoo or conditioner.
Check Amazon
Online shopping websites like Amazon can usually be helpful in finding information regarding the country of origin of a product in the Product Description section. But if it’s not there, don’t worry! You can also check the FAQ section to see if someone else has already asked about the country of origin. That way, you can make a more informed decision before purchasing.
Ask for Recommendations
If you’re unsure where to start, simply ask your friends, family, and your local vet for recommendations. They might already have the answer you need and may be able to recommend a US-made dog grooming product for you.
Call the Company
If you’re not sure, simply call the company and ask. A representative should be able to answer your questions about the product or point you in the right direction.
