These drops come in containers from 240 mg to all the way to 4850 mg and contain about 50mg of cannabinoids per milliliter of oil. It’s also non-GMO and 100% organic – zero pesticides or other nasty chemicals that could potentially have harmful side effects. PureKana

In terms of potency, this product comes in 300 mg, 600 mg, and 1000 mg bottles. Like NuLeaf, PureKana is non-GMO and 100% organic, with no pesticides or herbicides. It’s also non-psychoactive, although it isn’t entirely void of THC, typically containing less than .02%. This product offers pain relief for mental and physical ailments, although it may just take some testing to figure out the proper dosage for you. They don’t provide information about lab test results and other specifics outside of their ingredients label, making it tough to determine the correct dosage, so there may be some trial and error involved.

States manufacturing in: MIOR

Penguin CBD has a wide variety of oil tinctures and other CBD products from hemp grown in Oregon. The hemp farms they source from are also pesticide-free. Everything goes through a CO2 extraction process that preserves the natural properties of the plant.

How to Find CBD Oil Made in the USA

Instead of just listing American made CBD oils, we want to help you learn how to do your own research and make better shopping choices. We’ll explore the CBD oil industry, discussing important topics like where the hemp is sourced, labeling practices, and tips for finding high-quality USA made CBD oil brands. Let’s start by breaking down what “made in the USA” really means and how to understand it when shopping for CBD oils.

What Does “Made in the USA” Mean?

To find CBD made in the USA, you should first understand what the phrase “made in The USA” actually means.

For any product, including CBD, to be able to use this label, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires that “all or virtually all” of the product be made in the United States. This means that the entire process must take place on US soil, from manufacturing the materials to assembling the product. If some of the ingredients are imported, the product cannot be considered “made in the USA.”

Check out our detailed labeling guide for more information on the FTC’s “made in the USA” standards.

Materials/Ingredients

Researching the materials used and where they come from is a good way of knowing if a CBD oil product is made in the USA.

CBD oil is made up of the cannabis plant and carrier oil like hemp, coconut, and olive oil.

Cannabis

CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant. 37 US states have legalized the recreational or medicinal use of cannabis, meaning that the USA largely produces its own cannabis, and the industry is growing more each year. In fact, the number of marijuana manufacturing firms has increased by at least 212% over the last five years. So, finding American-grown cannabis is becoming easier and easier to find. Many countries abroad choose to use American CBD as the USA is one of a few major marijuana-producing countries that allow the extraction of this raw material.

Hemp Oil

A carrier oil is added to the CBD to turn the product into a liquid. Hemp oil is the most commonly used carrier oil. China is the world’s number one producer of hemp oil, but since it became legal to grow in 2018, the USA has slowly expanded its hemp industry. So, finding American-grown hemp-based CBD oil shouldn’t be too difficult to find.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is known for its antibacterial properties and is a popular choice as a great carrier oil for cannabis. The Philippines produces the most coconut oil in the world, and coconut oil is largely imported to the United States.

That being said, the USA does produce and export its own share of coconut oil. However, the USA still falls much behind other coconut-oil-producing countries. So, if you’re after a coconut-based hemp oil, the product is more likely than not made abroad.

Olive Oil

While the USA does not produce as much olive oil as Spain or Italy, there is still a fair amount of olive oil produced on US soil. Currently, the USA has around 40,000 acres of olives planted across the states. So finding olive oil made in the USA is possible, though it will be much harder than hemp oil.

Labeling

On top of researching the origins of the materials, you should also look at the label on the CBD bottle or packaging. Title 19 Chapter 4 Section 1304 of the US Code also states that all products made abroad must be labeled with the country of origin. This legislation makes it much easier for us to hunt down US-made products. So, in theory, all you’ll need to look for is the FTC-protected “made in the USA” label. But, unfortunately, it’s not as simple as it seems.

First of all, the FTC does not have a preapproval process regarding the label. This means any company can stick “made in the USA” on their products as long as they believe their product meets the standards and requirements. So, sometimes, consumers come across false usage of the label, which must then be reported to the FTC for them to take action.

Another issue is companies using tricky wording to confuse consumers into thinking their products are made in the USA. For example, some companies may use the label “made in America,” a broad statement that can also mean Mexico or Canada. Or another well-used label is “manufactured in the USA,” which signifies that only a portion of the product is actually made in the USA.

Other Tips

Here are some other tips to check if your CBD oil is made in the USA.

Check Their Website

Visiting the company’s website is a good idea as many companies will have an “About Us” section that usually outlines how and where their products are made. If a business does sell US-made products, it wouldn’t be shy about advertising this fact. In fact, “made in the USA” is a huge selling point.

Remember that companies are not required to state the country of origin on their promotional or online materials, so if you can’t find the country of origin, assume it’s made abroad.

Go Online

Other online resources can help you find American made CBD oil. For a starting point, check out the company’s social media to see if there is any mention of where their products are made. Another great place to check is online shopping sites like Amazon, which often state the country of origin in the Product Information section of the product page.

The American Flag Does Not Mean Made in the USA

Just because a company uses the American flag on its label does not mean the product is made in the USA. The flag’s usage is not protected, unlike the “made in the USA” label, so don’t automatically assume you’re looking at an American made product.

Call The Company

If you’re still unsure where a product is made, simply call the company. A representative should be able to answer your questions regarding the product’s country of origin.

Other Factors To Consider

Effectiveness

First and foremost, you have to look at the effectiveness of each product when it comes to the relief of all types, including:

  • Sleep issues
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Joint pain relief
  • Muscle pain relief
  • Other types of pain

Note that effectiveness varies widely based on the person and the condition you want to relieve.

Potency

There are a bunch of different potency levels and concentrations for CBD products out there. Strengths typically range from 200 mg to over 2,000 mg, and the potency that is right for you varies by person. Everyone’s biological makeup is different, so what is right for your friend may not be the proper dosage for you. If you’re a beginner, start with a low potency to see how you react, and then work your way up.

Ingredients

Unfortunately, there are some CBD oil producers out there that have little regard for consumer safety. Since it’s not an industry that is as tightly regulated as others by the government, you have to pay attention to the ingredients list of the products you’re looking to buy to ensure there aren’t any harmful chemicals or pesticides in them. Here are some of the harmful chemicals to look out for:

  • Myclobutanil
  • Bifenazate
  • Dextromethorphan

Test Results

We really value it when brands list lab test results alongside their products, preferably from a third party. These results help verify the quality of their CBD oil and go a long way in creating transparency between brands and consumers. In the lab results, we specifically look at the cannabinoid and terpene profiles of each product strain. The more transparency here, the better.

Side Effects

Look for tinctures that result in minimal to zero side effects. Some brands will have more THC than others, which can cause a high psychoactive dose, given a large enough dose.

Customer Service

It’s natural that you have a lot of questions when it comes to products to help improve your health. So, fast and reliable customer service is super important when evaluating companies. Look at a few different aspects here:

  • Responsiveness to live chat or contact form submissions
  • Helpfulness over email and phone
  • A seamless and clear ordering process
  • Fast shipping times and good policies
