What’s the perfect gift for the person who has it all? A scarf. Better yet, a 100% cashmere scarf. Ovcio Scarves produces exactly that. To the Ovcio brand, scarves are more than just something to keep you warm. They’re a fashion statement, an indulgence, a way to, as they say, “spoil your neck.”
It might surprise you that this scarf company wasn’t founded by fashion designers. Instead, it was a group of Silicon Valley Engineers traveling in the heart of Mongolia. When they saw the beautiful scarves worn by locals, they were struck with the idea, “What if we could share this soft, snug secret with everyone?”
The very first brand value of Ovcio is “Indulgence.” The scarves are made from luxurious cashmere, reportedly among the rarest materials on our planet. This fiber comes from a special goat that thrives in cold climates. Cashmere is harvested from the inner layer of the goat’s coat, where its soft fluffiness keeps the animal insulated and warm in harsh conditions.
Ovcio is a very focused brand. Although they have a range of products, their leading seller is the cashmere scarf. Where does this rare material come from, and are Ovcio’s scarves made there too?
Verdict: Are Ovcio Scarves Made in the USA?
No, Ovcio products are not made in the USA. Ovcio scarves and other products are made in Mongolia.
The Ovcio brand is headquartered in California, but they do not manufacture their goods there. Instead, production is outsourced abroad, and items are imported to the US for sale.
Ovcio uses its sourcing as a selling point. The goats used to create the cashmere fiber are raised in the Mongolian mountains. Due to this fiber’s limited and precise nature, it is difficult to harvest. One animal yields only 150g of it each year.

Every scarf made by Ovcio is 100% cashmere and handmade by locals in the Mongolian region. From animal herding to harvest to production, it all happens there.

The farm used to source the cashmere fibers is called Batu Jegu. It is a fourth-generation family farm in Mongolia. They’ve been growing and processing cashmere for over 40 years. The farm manages the animals, even hand-combing them to care for their fur.

The majority of the workforce employed by the farm is made up of young mothers. Ovcio states that they offer flexible working hours to best support working moms who also care for their families. The brand reports that the salaries they pay are 10% higher than others in the field.
Aside from their primary offering of 100% cashmere scarves, Ovcio also sells silk cardigans, polyester belts, blankets, pockets, and pouches. We weren’t sure about the origin of these items, so we reached out to the company to ask specifically. Here is their response:

In summary, if it’s from Ovcio, it’s from Mongolia.
