What’s the most brandished sign of personal success? A good watch. Not only is it a classic part of any business ensemble, a watch is also just…functional. Fossil is a classic when it comes to weable goods and most notably, wrist watches. You could say they are timeless, pun intended.
Founded in 1984 by two brothers, the company was originally called Overseas Products International. With a name like that, you probably can guess where we’re headed in this article. In the beginning, they focused specifically on importing their goods from Eastern Asia. But, as we know, a lot can happen in the evolution of a company.
Over the years, Fossil has acquired many brands to add into their product line. The umbrella company that has emerged is now known as Fossil Group. They’ve also worked on countless collaborations with other companies such as Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade, Armani, and more. Today, they’re based out of Richardson, Texas.
Through all of these changes and acquisitions, we wanted to know if Fossil makes any products here in the USA. Read on to see what we found out.
Verdict: Is Fossil Made in the USA?
Fossil products are not made in the USA. They are made in China.
Are we really surprised when the company’s original name was Overseas Products International? To this day, Fossil does not offer any products that are USA made.
From the product pages, there’s no manufacturing information to be found – not even an “imported” tag.
As far as getting in contact with the company, there isn’t a contact number or support form easily accessible on their website. You’ve got to jump into their Live Chat, which takes a bit of waiting to start speaking with a representative.
Initially, the representative we spoke to told us that “all Fossil products are coming from our Dallas warehouse.” This was curious, as there’s absolutely no reporting of “made in America” marketing on their website. Having products that are US-made is a huge selling point, so if true, why not flaunt it? We pushed for more information. Here is that conversation:
As expected, “coming from our Dallas warehouse” was not the answer to our manufacturing question and the representative was unwilling to provide more honest information.
What can be assumed if a brand refuses to release the location of their manufacturing facilities? Well, certainly that they aren’t based out of the US.
We hunted down their number (it’s not on their website, imagine that) and gave them a call. Here’s an excerpt from that conversation:
All American: I’m trying to find out where your products are made?
Fossil: Like assembled?
AA: Yes, manufactured.
Fossil: ok, let me put you on hold.

Fossil: ok, Fossil products are made in china and there is a watch design studio in Switzerland. Distribution centers are global, some in Germany and other parts of Asia.
Finally, we have our answer. Fossil products are manufactured in China.
