We recently came across Nutrient Survival during our research for American made survival supplies. They definitely stand out compared to the other emergency food supply companies we looked at, so we immediately knew we wanted to reach out and learn more about this great company.
We got connected with Eric Christianson, the CEO of Nutrient Survival. Below is his story about how Nutrient Survival came to be, their mission, and tons more behind-the-scenes insights on what makes them tick. Behind the Scenes of Nutrient Survival
AAO: Give us a look inside the history of Nutrient Survival. How did y’all grow up into the company you are today?
NS: A few short years ago, as the health crisis swept over the globe, it was clear that the world would never be the same. Most people were ill-prepared to sustain a disruption of this magnitude. And it showed. Supply chains dried up. Grocery store shelves emptied out. Restaurants closed down. Rationing food supplies became a reality. For those few who were well stocked with emergency food for just such an eventuality, they soon realized that they’d been duped. The “survival food” they depended on was instead empty, dead calories, void of the essential nutrients we need to live. Ironically, their survival food did nothing for them, and if that’s all they ended up having, they would, instead, die.
We decided to do something about that. So we started a new food tech company called Nutrient Survival, based in Reno-Tahoe, in the foothills of the beautiful Sierra Nevada. Here, we make the world’s most nutrient-dense emergency food. Top shelf. Delicious. Special Ops grade nutrition.
Handcrafted in small batches right here on site, our chef-made recipes use real, fresh ingredients and are then fortified with our patented combination of 40 essential nutrients to help keep Americans healthy, strong, and alert.
Since our humble beginnings on Independence Day 2020, we have grown from just an idea to a successful multi-million dollar company, serving over 50,000 customers across our country and counting.
AAO: What made you want to get started?
NS: I’m an Army veteran. After serving many years in the military, I made a career as an accomplished Executive at some of the most esteemed Fortune 100 food companies in the U.S., including Procter & Gamble, Campbell Soup Company, and Perdue Farms.
Having seen first-hand what our food was coming to in this country – factory farmed, ultra-processed, artificial ingredients, empty calories void of nutrition – and more so, what our food was doing to us – making us sick, impaired, and dependent on pills – it was time to break-away. It was time to lead change.
While we started making emergency food to give people the essential nutrition they need to survive an eventuality, the truth is we’re not a food company at all. We’re a Freedom company that happens to sell food. Today, we offer our nutrient-dense food and drinks for emergency, everyday performance, and brain health.
AAO: How many U.S. based employees do you have and in what locations?
NS: Based out of Reno-Tahoe, we are an end-to-end food manufacturer with 35 employees.
AAO: Why do you choose to manufacture in the U.S.?
NS: We love America first. We need to keep jobs at home, so we keep the dollars at home and remain free from foreign dependence. There are already enough Big Companies sending production overseas to pad their bottom lines and keep their shareholders happy.
For us, we care more about other things than fat profits. We know we’ll be ok if we do things right, the way they ought to be. We just can’t imagine doing it any other way.

AAO: What do your customers love most about Nutrient Survival and your products?
