How To Find Tumblers Made in the USA
Beyond simply offering a thorough list of American made tumblers, our goal is to provide you with the insights needed to conduct your own research and shop smarter. Let’s take a closer look at the tumbler manufacturing industry—exploring material sourcing, labeling guidelines, and the strategies we use to discover top-notch tumbler brands made in the USA. First, let’s decode the “made in the USA” label and how to make sense of it when selecting your next tumbler.
What Does “Made in the USA” Mean?
The first step to finding tumblers made in the USA is understanding what the label “made in the USA” means. According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), for a product to be made in the USA, “all or virtually all” of the product must be made in the USA. This means everything from the sourcing of the raw materials to the manufacturing of the product needs to take place on U.S. soil.

For now, let’s focus on tumbler manufacturing. Here’s more information about material sourcing.
Materials
To find tumblers made in the USA, you need to know what raw materials are used and where they are sourced from.
Plastic
Plastic is commonly used in tumblers as it is cheap, lightweight, and easy to clean. As with most other raw materials, plastic is mainly produced in China. However, the USA has a pretty sizable slice of the plastic industry as well, producing around 20% of the world’s plastic. Many companies use Chinese-made plastic, especially when looking to cut down on manufacturing cost. But with some research, it is definitely possible to find plastic tumblers that are made in the USA with US-sourced plastic.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is another common material used in tumblers, as these tumblers are durable and great at keeping cold drinks cool and hot drinks hot. Thankfully, finding US-made steel is not too difficult, as the USA is one of the world’s largest steel manufacturers and lags behind only China, Japan, and India.
While foreign-made steel may be easier to come across, for quality’s sake, it’s important that you look specifically for American-made steel. American-made steel is three times stronger than Chinese-made steel.
Glass
Although more expensive than plastic or stainless steel, glass is used for tumblers as drinks often taste better in glass due to the material not affecting the flavor of your drink as much. Glass tumblers also tend to be more aesthetically pleasing.
Although glass production in the USA is quite sizeable, it does not compare to glass manufacturing giants such as China. China produces around a quarter of the world’s glass, so glass products are more likely to be sourced from abroad. However, even with the limited number of glassware companies in the US, you should be able to find glass tumblers made in the USA with some research.
Labeling
Paying attention to the product’s labeling is essential to finding US-made products. Companies are required by Title 19 Chapter 4 Section 1304 of the United States Code to accurately label their imported products with the country of origin. This means that differentiating US-made products from foreign-made products is theoretically easy, as you only need to look for the “made in the USA” label.
Although the “made in the USA” label makes it easier to find US-made products, you must understand that there is no pre-approval process for using the label. Instead, it is up to the companies to determine whether their products meet the criteria to use the label.
That said, the FTC will investigate complaints if a product is mislabeled with the “made in the USA” label. So, as a consumer, if you do come across any misleading usage of the label, you should report it to the FTC.
You should also beware of confusing labels like “manufactured in the USA” or “designed in the USA.” These labels generally mean that not all of the product is made in the USA. Also, watch out for products labeled “made in America,” as America can also refer to Canada or Mexico.
Another example of a confusing label is “made in the USA with imported materials.” This label means that the product uses imported raw materials and cannot be considered “made in the USA.”
Lastly, watch out for the use of the American flag on the label or packaging of a product. The usage of the American flag is not regulated, so you cannot automatically assume that the product is made in the USA.
Other Tips
Here are some extra tips to help you find US-made tumblers:
Check the Company’s Website
Check out the company’s website for information about the product’s origin. Check the website’s “About Us” page or the product page to find the country of origin. If the product is truly “made in the USA,” the company will advertise it, as it is a huge selling point.
However, if the product is not US-made, it is possible that you may not find any information regarding the country of origin. This is because companies are not legally required to state the country of origin on their online or promotional materials.
Check Social Media
Social media can provide a lot of information about a company. Check the company’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages, as companies often post updates about the sourcing and manufacturing process of their products.
Call the Company
Call the company if you are still unsure about where the product is made. A company representative should be able to give you all the information you need.
