Barrel-Art was created out of necessity when the founder (Mike Prieto) and his wife lost all of their belongings to a fire when moving to Europe, and Mike had to make their furniture by hand. After enjoying woodworking, Mike was inspired to make a bar out of a barrel after visiting European wineries. After generating a great deal of interest, Mike completed a business degree, moved back to the U.S., and started Barrel-Art in 2013. Barrel-Art upcycles wine barrels into furniture, barware and home decor creating sustainable pieces with minimal carbon footprint. Their barrel furniture has been used in several famous restaurants.
