American Dog is a dog toy and accessories manufacturer based in Commerce City, Colorado, that produces tug toys, flyers, balls, dog beds, collars, leashes, harnesses, and bandanas from military-grade nylon fabrics. The brand was founded in 2014 as a product line of Stryker by Design, a Colorado-based contract manufacturer owned by Hayley Clark-Johnson, Tina Johnson, Tasha Hunsaker, and Tina Anderson. The brand originated from in-office prototyping using leftover Stryker materials to make toys for an office dog named Gracie, and was formalized as a standalone brand after the founders identified demand for domestically manufactured pet products. All products are manufactured at Stryker by Design’s facility in Commerce City and by home-based assemblers working from the same materials. Primary fabrics include 1000-denier Cordura and 1680-denier ballistic nylon, both sourced domestically. The product line covers tug toys in multiple configurations, fetch toys, dog beds, crate pads, and collars and leashes in a variety of colorways and designs.
