About

Tippmann Industrial manufactures hand-operated leather sewing machines and leather cutting equipment in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Dennis Tippmann started the leather sewing machine business in 1989 after recognizing demand from Amish harness makers in the Midwest, who needed machines that could sew heavy material quickly without electrical power. The company is related to the Tippmann family’s other Fort Wayne businesses, which have included the paintball equipment maker Tippmann Sports.

Its main sewing product is the Boss, a manual leather stitcher operated by a pull handle that sews leather and other materials up to 3/4 inch thick without electricity. Based on our research, the machine is assembled in the USA with both domestic and imported components. Hobbyists and small leather shops use the Boss for saddles and tack, holsters, knife sheaths, wallets, and motorcycle seats. Tippmann Industrial also produces Clicker die-cutting machines, a roller press and a flatbed attachment for the Boss.
