Sterilite manufactures plastic housewares, including storage, laundry products, waste baskets, garage storage, office products, and kitchenware. Established in 1939, the family-owned business started by making wooden heels for women’s shoes. They’d just started unsuccessfully injection-molding heels when WWII hit, and they began manufacturing plastic personal articles for the Armed Forces. They gained considerable expertise and a reputation for their plastic toys, giftware, houseware, and tabletop products. In the 1960s, they developed innovative new products and are now the most prominent plastic houseware manufacturing company in North America, with most of its products being made in the USA across seven plants totaling over 12 million square feet.
