About

Preserve is a consumer goods company headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts, that manufactures household and personal care products from post-consumer recycled plastic. Founded in 1996 by Eric Hudson, the company was established to address what Hudson identified as an underutilized opportunity: more consumers were recycling materials, but few manufacturers were incorporating those materials back into new products. The company’s first product, a toothbrush made from recycled polypropylene, launched in March 1997 after development work with dentists, scientists, and engineers; Hudson’s father, a product designer, shaped the brand’s visual identity.

All toothbrushes and household products are manufactured in the United States using recycled No. 5 polypropylene plastic sourced through a network of processing partners and tested for contaminants before use; toothbrush bristles are made from virgin nylon. The product line includes razors, food storage containers, cutting boards, measuring cups, and colanders, distributed through retailers including Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe’s, Hannaford, and TJX Companies. The company also operates the Gimme 5 program, which accepts used toothbrushes and other No. 5 plastic items for recycling. Preserve holds B Corporation certification and ranks in the top 5 percent of more than 3,500 certified B Corps for overall environmental impact.
