Mountain Meadow Wool is currently the largest full-service spinning mill in the west. The family-operated mill is on a mission to save its historic ranches that sit below the Big Horn Mountains of the Western Plains of Wyoming. After a decrease in wool prices, many of these ranches have shut down over the last 20 years. Mountain Meadow Wool opened in 2007, buying wool from local ranchers at premium prices to craft home decor and apparel products. The dry climate in Wyoming creates naturally soft and silky merino wool, which Mountain Meadow Wool then processes using environmentally friendly techniques, cleaners, oil, and 100% natural bio-degradable soaps. Their product range includes beanies, hoodies, scarves, gloves, throws, blankets, pillows, and table runners.
