About
Gribetz builds industrial quilting and sewing machinery for mattress and bedding manufacturers. Dan Gribetz started the business in 1940, building king-size lock-stitch quilting machines, and Gribetz International later developed multi-needle quilters, including the first three-needle-bar quilter for sewing plush 12-inch patterns in the 1980s. Leggett & Platt acquired Gribetz in the 1990s and operated it within its Global Systems Group, with quilters built and shipped from a plant in Sunrise, Florida.
The equipment is designed for commercial and industrial bedding production and is not sold for household use. ABM International, a family-owned machinery maker based in Montgomery, Texas, acquired Gribetz in early 2025 along with the Porter International and Galkin Automated Products brands. The deal included two factories in Sunrise, Florida, and Carthage, Missouri, totaling about 100,000 square feet, along with 70 employees.
Paul Block, the company’s president of sales, said Gribetz operates U.S. factories that produce U.S.-made equipment, though we verified it uses some imported materials. Its product range covers quilting, binding, flange, filling, cutting, and packaging equipment, and it also distributes machinery from partner companies such as Eton Systems and Teknomac. Gribetz has been ISO 9001 compliant since 2012.
