About
Gammill designs and manufactures longarm quilting machines at its factory in West Plains, Missouri. Ken Gammill and his wife moved to West Plains from Union City, Tennessee, in 1965 and opened the Gammill Sewing Center, then founded the Gammill Quilting Machine Company in 1980. The company builds the hand-guided Vision 2.0 as well as the computer-guided Statler and Statler Ascend models. Statler is Gammill’s brand for computerized quilting and takes its name from the Statler Stitcher system developed by Paul Statler.
Gammill machines are used by both home quilters and professional quilters who finish quilts for paying customers, and the company’s warranty explicitly covers commercial use. Each machine is assembled and tested at the Missouri factory before shipment, although it uses some imported components. Ken Gammill received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Machine Quilters Society in 2003. The company also resells used machines through a pre-owned program and runs an education program for owners.
