Field Notes was established in 2006 by Aaron Draplin, a designer and collector of American ephemera, who was inspired by the sub-genre of agricultural memo books. Field Notes was set up with a mission to craft vintage-looking, smartly-designed pocket notebooks, calendars, and other office stationary. Since its establishment, Field Notes has been manufacturing its products in the USA, using paper sourced from mills in the Midwest, every element is done in the U.S. with no part being imported. They now craft their “Field Notes” notebooks in a range of patterns and colors and have even made a range for gamers.
