Feathered Friends was started in 1972 by Carol and Peter Hickner in their basement. They wanted to create outdoor gear that they wanted to use but couldn’t afford. Featured Friends products are made using high-quality, responsibly sourced goose down and exceptionally soft and durable single-ply cotton from a mill that weaves the fabric specifically for them.
Note – they use some imported materials for their sleeping bags, but that is pretty much the standard in this industry, where it’s difficult to find some necessary materials from US suppliers. Today, they have two factory locations in the SoDo area of Seattle, run by the second generation of their family.
