White River Knife and Tool produces fixed-blade knives in Fremont, Michigan, operating from a facility at 515 Industrial Drive. The company was founded in 2011 by John Cammenga and his family, who drew on decades of manufacturing experience after previously operating Cammenga Company, which produced lensatic compasses for the U.S. military in the early 1990s before being sold in 2005. John Cammenga purchased knife-making equipment from a local bank in late 2010 and established the knife company with his wife, Susan, and sons, Matt and John Jr., using the White River name, taken from the river that crosses the family’s plot in Michigan’s Manistee National Forest. The company produces knives for hunting, fishing, survival, food preparation, and everyday carry, sourcing domestic materials where available and backing all products with a lifetime guarantee.
