About
Welch Workwear has a charming family story behind its history. Established in 1967, Fred Welch started a family business, including his wife and three children, selling workwear, belts, bags, and other accessories. In 1978, the popularity of the Mork & Mindy show, which starred Robin Williams in a pair of rainbow suspenders, saw Fred jump at the opportunity to make his own. This was a huge success for the company, and in 1996, they focused solely on manufacturing quality suspenders. In 2019, the Welch Company was sold to Kinco, which shares Welch’s values and continues to manufacture the suspenders in the USA at their headquarters in Portland, Oregon, although they use some imported materials.
