About

Velo3D is a metal additive manufacturing company founded in 2014 by Benny Buller and headquartered in Fremont, California. The company developed the Sapphire series of laser powder bed fusion printers, which are distinguished by their ability to print complex geometries at angles below 45 degrees without support structures, enabling parts previously impossible to produce through conventional metal 3D printing. All Velo3D Sapphire printers are assembled in the United States at the company’s Fremont facility, and the company has positioned itself as a domestic manufacturer serving aerospace, defense, energy, and space launch customers. Velo3D has been qualified as an additive manufacturing vendor for the U.S. Army and has entered into programs with the U.S. Navy for manufacturing ship components. The Sapphire XC, the company’s larger-format system, supports metal parts up to 600 millimeters in diameter and one meter in height.
