Town Cutler produces handcrafted kitchen knives at its workshop in Reno, Nevada, where founder Galen Garretson relocated production after originally establishing the brand in San Francisco in 2011. Garretson spent years working as a professional chef in San Francisco before redirecting his career to knife making, drawing on his culinary experience to inform blade design and ergonomics. The Reno operation produces knives from high-alloy steels, including Nitro-V and Damasteel, paired with handle materials such as buckeye burl and layered resin. Town Cutler’s knife lines include the Desert Dawn and Baja series, and the company provides free lifetime sharpening on all of its knives.
