TOPS Knives produces fixed-blade knives in Idaho Falls, Idaho, founded in December 1998 by a group of veterans, law enforcement officers, and outdoor professionals who shared a dissatisfaction with the field performance of military-issue knives from the Vietnam War era. The company’s mailing address is in Ucon, Idaho, a community in Bonneville County adjacent to Idaho Falls. TOPS uses a stock removal fabrication method, cutting blade blanks from steel sheet stock with CNC machinery and heat-treating them at its Idaho Falls facility, producing more than 50,000 knives annually with a stated failure rate below one percent.
