About

Ruff Dawg is a pet toy manufacturer based in Worcester, Massachusetts, that produces rubber dog toys at its parent company’s facility, Jefferson Rubber Works. Jefferson Rubber Works was founded in 1975 in Jefferson, Massachusetts, and relocated to a 35,000-square-foot facility in Worcester in 1988. Ruff Dawg was established as a product line within Jefferson Rubber Works in 1998 after employees discovered that rejected rubber diaphragm membranes from an industrial wastewater contract flew accurately when thrown, leading to the development of a dog toy line. The first product, the K9 Flyer, debuted at the Backer Pet Industry Christmas Trade Show in 1999. The current lineup includes more than 25 rubber toys across categories, including flyers, balls, tug toys, and fetch toys. All products are made from natural rubber and thermoplastic elastomer formulated to FDA standards, free of phthalates and BPAs, and manufactured entirely at the Worcester facility from design through packaging. The company employs approximately 50 workers and backs its products with a lifetime replacement guarantee. Since 2016, Ruff Dawg has donated to Canines for Disabled Kids, a nonprofit based in Worcester.
