About
The North Western Knitting Company (NWKC) was founded in 1888 by George Munsing who invented a method of plating woolen fibers with cotton to take the “itch” out of woolen underwear. These less-bulky single-piece undergarments were patented in 1891 and propelled NWKC to an industry standard. NWKC closed in 1981 but has recently resurfaced with heavy parallels to its past. They manufacture minimalist clothes made for a capsule wardrobe and built for heavy rotation. Their clothing is made from Merino Dual Cloth, a modern interpretation of Munsing’s original fabric. NWKC’s clothes are knit, cut, and sewn in the USA using some globally sourced raw materials and components.
