About

MakerGear is a 3D printer manufacturer founded in 2009 by Rick Pollack in Beachwood, Ohio, originally with the goal of producing a well-engineered precision extruder. Pollack, a serial entrepreneur with a background in software development, launched the company’s first complete printer, the MakerGear Mosaic, in 2011. The company engineers and manufactures its Ultra One, M3-ID, M3-SE, and M2 printer models in Cleveland, Ohio, using a combination of domestic and global components, with many parts sourced from suppliers within a 30-minute drive of the facility. MakerGear also produces PLA, ABS, and PolySupport filament and sells replacement parts and upgrades for its machines. The company serves professional, educational, and commercial users and has brought significant manufacturing investment into the northeast Ohio economy through its local supply chain relationships.
