Bill Campbell, founder of the Hunting Shack, had been loading for personal use and for friends for many years before starting his business in 1968. Naming his business out of the building he worked from that looked like a shack, Bill’s company grew quite quickly, with many law enforcement officials purchasing their ammunition. The Hunting Shack rapidly expanded into the commercial market with their Cowboy Action, Self Defense and Match ammunition. After a fire consumed their shack facility in Missoula, Montana, they moved to Stevenson, Montana, in 1999, where they currently remain in a 40,000 sq. ft. facility. Their ammo boxes are proudly stamped with “Made in USA” or “Made in Montana.”
