Hornady Manufacturing Co. originated in 1949 by Joyce Hornady, who felt there was a gap in the market for reloaders who wanted accurate, deadly, and dependable bullets. After WWII, there was a surplus of ammunition that was not suitable for hunting. Using surplus machine tools from the war, Hornaday started manufacturing ammunition. The two-man operation has now grown into a world leader in ammunition manufacturing. Hornaday is still a family-run business to this day and is one of the world’s largest independently owned makers of bullets and ammunition.
