Dramm Corporation manufactures watering tools, irrigation equipment, and greenhouse water management systems at its headquarters and production facility in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The company was founded in 1941 by John G. Dramm, a florist who invented the 400 Water Breaker nozzle to apply large volumes of water to greenhouse crops without damaging the plants. After Dramm’s death in 1951, his widow Perdita kept the business running while their sons later formalized it as a manufacturing company, with son Kurt William purchasing the company outright in 1967.
Dramm remains family-owned and is now led by third-generation family members Hans Dramm and Heidi Dramm Becker, who took over company leadership in 2013. The company has grown from an original basement operation into a roughly 100,000-square-foot facility in Manitowoc that employs more than 100 people, producing rain wands, sprinklers, cutting tools, irrigation components, sanitation equipment, and organic fertilizer for both professional greenhouse growers and home gardeners. Dramm also manufactures its ColorStorm line of garden hoses at the Manitowoc facility. The hoses are molded from EPDM rubber and fitted with nickel-plated machined brass couplings, with a burst rating of 500 PSI. Product design, tooling, and assembly are carried out at the Manitowoc facility, which the company has continued to invest in and expand.
