Cocomats was established in 1996 as a result of a DHL package delivery mix-up. Using the sample of woven coconut fibers sent to him by mistake, Jeff was reminded of the cocomat car floor covers that were popular in the 50s and 60s, but that were no longer available. Jeff started making cocomats that are 100% waterproof and hide and hold dirt until vacuumed. The business grew out of its garage in California to South Carolina in 2006. Each car mat is handmade to order in the USA using coconut matting materials from India that were first sent to Jeff 22 years ago.
