Founded in 1961 by Carie Birdwell Mann, Birdwell Beach Britches was one of the first surf wear specialized businesses, and Carie’s living room was one of the first surf shops ever. The company remained made in the USA for quite some time, but recently, Birdwell was purchased by a group of investors that have since moved a lot of manufacturing overseas to China and other countries. They still have a small selection of board shorts made here.
