The brand was established in 2016 by knife designer Greg Medford as a sister brand to Medford Knife and Tool, created to fill the absence of an American-made, premium-steel modular multi-tool in the domestic market. ASK sources its powdered stainless steel alloys from Niagara Specialty Metals in upstate New York, uses titanium mined in Ohio, and fabricates plastic injection-molded handle scales from American-made materials in Scottsdale.
